Breeding healthy bloodhounds requires doing proper health testings.  For Bloodhounds:

- passing Heart (Echocargiogram preferred)

- passing Hips- Xray, evaluatin and grading

- passing Elbows - Xray, evaluation and grading

- DM test - avoid creating a DM At Risk dog

All tests should be recorded on         www.ofa.org

A wonderful resource for those in law enforcement looking to work a bloodhound k9, or wanting to connect for bloodhound trailing seminars, specific training and more, we highly recommend the you contact the National Police Bloodhound Association.

For some bloodhound owners and breeders, they connect with the United Kennel Club.  Which is another dog registry and organizer of dog shows.  It is a bit more laid back than the AKC, and unlike the AKC where only AKC Clubs can join the AKC, the UKC welcome individual members.
